The essentials
What is a signature by SMS code?
It is a simple electronic signature: the recipient opens the document, receives a code on their phone and confirms the signing with it. No separate cryptographic signature, token or visit to a certification authority is required.
Does the recipient have to install anything?
No. The document opens where it arrived — on a phone or in a browser. No software and no certificates are needed on the recipient’s side.
Where are the files themselves stored?
In WiDrive, the platform storage. ePapers is responsible for who the document is addressed to and what happens to it, not for the bytes of the file.
How is this different from an email attachment?
An email has neither an addressee for the document nor a state for it: the sender does not know whether the attachment was opened or went to spam. In ePapers the document is addressed to a particular recipient, and its state is visible to both sides.
Can documents be sent to private individuals?
Yes. Exchange with a person works the same way as exchange between companies: only the other side changes.
